Mum's in from across the pond.

My kitchen is now restocked with two of lifes essentals. Fairy liquid (the best dish soap in the universe- name aside) and Yorkshire Tea (red not gold).

Yorkshire tea is the best.  The gold is supposed to be better, but i think that's rubbish. the red is fantastic.  it tastes awesome no matter the water quality. the company is also family owned, so yay!

proper brewing technique:

Ingredients:

1 thoroughly lime scaled kettle

1 clean (?!) mug per person

1 teapot (this is optional. For use with company. My, aren’t we posh?)

1 bag of Yorkshire tea per person (if using the teapot it’s 1 bag per person plus 1 for the pot)

Water (enough of it)

Sugar

Milk

Directions:

1. Put enough (?!) water in the thoroughly lime scaled kettle.  Set it on high heat to boil.  Go in the other room to watch East Enders.  Forget about kettle.

2. Wonder what the hell Billy Mitchell has gotten himself into this time.

3. Wonder what that shrieking noise is?

4. I sure could use some tea.

5. Oh the tea!

6. Put one tea bag in each mug.  Pour water in over the teabags intending to leave a ¼ inch of room but not succeeding.

7. Go back into the living room to watch more East Enders while the tea steeps. Forget about steeping tea.

8. Commercial break.  Tea sounds lovely.  OH tea! Good, it’s still warm.

9. Spoon out tea bags.

10. 1 and ½ spoons sugar and as much milk fits. Yes of course that’s how you want it. Well that’s how I made it and I’m not starting over.

11. Stir. Take a sip off the top of all the overflowing mugs so they don’t spill on the way to the living room.

12. Share and enjoy.

I love my mom, we talk and stuff. Here are her beautiful words on DBAD.

"...and furthermore, although the intent, of the DBAD movement, is honourable it is - in and of itself - doomed from the start. One of the most important factors in moving forward, effectively, is to remain focused on the desired outcome; to ask someone not to do (or be) something, is to put the focus on the negative.

Strength and empowerment is about putting focus on the positive. Trying to elicit good behavior from a child is best done through praise and encouragement. Approaching life with a focus on what you think your own is lacking, is like trying to regulate stress levels by meditating on every arguement you ever had: a pointless waste of energy and doomed to failure.

Gratitude, for what you are and do have, is the starting point. The positive and life-enhancing images, which this will conjur up in your mind, trigger pleasurable neuropeptides which the brain (and the unconscious mind) then seek to replicate. The brain knows not the difference between the reality and the memory of the reality. What you think directly affects how you feel, which directly influences the way you perceive. And perception is everything when it comes to the state of our own personal realities.

Encourage yourself to go for the positive, life-enhancing, choice and eschew the negative, life destroying ones. No one has to tell you what is truly best for you. Be true to your Self; you already know. Thoughts become things, choose the good ones! Encourage others to recognise the way forward, but lead by example - not doctrine.

In that spirit, I'd like to initiate a movement which I call 'BABS' - Be A Bright Spark! :) "
