Micro Movie Reviews
Dec. 7th, 2009 11:56 amAt the Movies:
2012
Everything I hoped for, at one point I laughed for about 30 minutes straight. See it on a large screen and go in with NO expectations. I don’t have TV so this is the only preview I saw for this move http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZW2qxFkcL
Paranormal Activity
Again, NO TV= NO Previews= NO expectations=Terrifying Movie. I’m sorry if you see it now after the hype.
On DVD:
Burn After Reading
I’m amazed that they can still make Brad Pitt look like he’s in his early 20’s. A great showcase for a bunch of talented actors, but I’m still not sure what I watched.
Wanted (2008)
Every cube dwellers dream. I don’t understand why it seems like this movie just disappeared. There is always room in my heart for gun porn, breaking the fourth wall, and Morgan Freeman calling people Motherfuckers. But WTF is up with Leto’s voice?

Second Chance, December.
Dec. 1st, 2009 11:42 amSup, December.
I know we had words last year. I’m really, really sorry about that whole thing with the Myers kid. I hope you’ve regained mobility in your legs. I also want you to know I’m totally NOT screening your calls, Don’t listen to what January says, he’s just cold and bitter.
So here’s the deal you just got back, lets lay down a couple of things and see if we can come to some sort of agreement.
First, I’ve already started shopping. October was annoyed with me, but I’ve gotten some of my tougher people out of the way. So that’s cool.
Second, my tree is up and trimmed and my house is starting to look pretty nice. Awesome.
Third, November was being a real wet blanket towards the end there. I’m looking outside right now and blue skies. Nice work, December.
So here’s what I expect from you:
I really want to make cookies this year. This means you need to take your time and chill out.
Speaking of chilling out, some snow on Christmas would be a nice touch. It doesn’t have to cover the ground, just some flurries. Not feeling up to snow? A crisp cold day with the scent of a wood fire on the wind works just as well. Just none of that 60 degrees and rainy crap you pulled last year. Maintaining a traditional temperature may also keep me form getting sick this year. I swear to whatever god you believe in, December, that if I get sick this year the Myers kid will look like Kris Kringle to you.
Ahem…
I would also like to finish my shopping in a timely manner. So see my request Re:Cookies.
That’s about all I can think of right now. Seriously, clean up your act. You have a lot of potential. Stop being a joiner, April isn’t worth your time. Be your own month. I’ll check back in a couple of weeks but remember I’ve got my eyes on you.

This is insane.
Nov. 17th, 2009 02:53 pmUnion Bullies Boy Scout for Dastardly Good Deed
"...once the city’s municipal union caught wind of this do-gooder breath of fresh air, it put up a stink at Tuesday’s city council meeting. Nick Balzano, president of the local Service Employees International Unions said its considering filing a grievance against the city for allowing such good, free-of-charge, work to happen.
"We'll be looking into the Cub Scout or Boy Scout who did the trails," Balzano told the council, reports The Morning Call."

The Waters of Mars...
Nov. 16th, 2009 08:31 amWill burn for intresting christmas music.
My family is terrible at Christmas and I don’t think it’s just because most of them are Jewish. They put a lot of effort into the holiday. The tree goes up the weekend of Thanksgiving. The mantel is decked out to the nines. My dads love for frankincense and myrrh comes out in full force. We’ve been planning our Christmas eve dinner since June. I’ve been planning Christmas day brunch since before that. But something gets lost in the spirit.
But I don’t mean the “Christ our savior is born” spirit. As my dad puts it “We’re Jews for Christ sake!” my step mom is a lapsed Catholic, and my sister and I are of the non-believing variety. Our spirit is purely secular. We’re all about the family, giving, and togetherness thing. Like a second Thanksgiving but with presents. And a tree. And A cranky Grandma who wants to know where she went wrong with her nice Jewish son.
Awesome.
( The fail starts with gifts. )This is why i no longer have TV
Nov. 5th, 2009 03:20 pmThousands rally to protest health care bill
"This bill is the greatest threat to freedom that I have seen," House Republican leader John Boehner of Ohio told the crowd gathered on the lawn near the West Front of the Capitol.
Said Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa: "We're not going to leave this Hill until we kill this bill."
Among the signs in the crowd was one reading, "Waterboard Congress," and another saying, "Vote no to government-run health care." The crowd included a significant number of older Americans.
Some conservatives oppose increased government involvement as the first step on a slippery slope to "socialized" medicine, a term they use to denigrate other countries' health care systems, and insist on rugged American individualism, in which people should be responsible for their own health care.
Anyone, ANYONE! Who opposes a government run healthcare option should voluntarily forfeit their rights to Medicare/Medicaid! Where the fuck do they think those magic benefits come from? And if anyone has a problem with “Socialized” medicine I will gladly give them my mothers contact information in the United Kingdom and you are free to call her in her private hospital room where she is currently recovering from hip replacement surgery that she got at no out of pocket cost and that SHE WOULD NEVER HAVE GOTTEN IN THIS COUNTRY. She is 55 and unable to work due to her disabilities and would most likely be uninsurable. Without this surgery, and the ones she will be getting after it the rest of her life would have been lived out in excruciating pain even with medicine. So fuck you Steve King.

Nov. 3rd, 2009 12:09 pm"A blogger writes about how one of Judaism's holiest days ended, for her, in a strip club, while elsewhere a guy strolls into a tattoo parlor requesting a Star of David. Two women exchange wedding vows in a Jewish ceremony, and hipsters toss back bottles of HE'BREW, The Chosen Beer. A full-time software developer prepares to lead a group in Jewish prayer, as a PhD candidate in Jewish thought pens a letter criticizing Israel's policies.
Meet the "New Jews," as some call them: pockets of post-baby boomers -- or more accurately Generation X and Millennial (Gen Y) Jews -- who are making one of the world's oldest known monotheistic faiths and its culture work for them and others in a time when, more than ever, affiliation is a choice."
I dont know how i feel about all this. I apreciate great marketing, and its nice to see people who have faith finding a way to connect wiht it, but i wonder how one can find the meening of the High Holy Days in a strip club (though it might be cheaper than goign to a Synagogue). I'm really only jewish in ethnicity/tradition only as i never had a religious upbringing. the High holy days, Passover and Chanukah were the only things celebrated in our house (along with christmas and easter, but when both you mom and your later step mom are shiksas thats a given) and we never went to Temple. More often than not i've found myself being the one holding the traditions in place. I don't like labling my religious (non)alignment but it's pretty funny when the
